The General IFMGA Assembly for the first time in South-America.

The General Assembly took place for the first time in South-America, from October 16 to 18 in Huaraz, Peru.








Peru was the first member of IFMGA in South-America in 1990. Huaraz is situaed 450km north of Lima in the Andes mountains at an altitude of 3'100m. Huaraz counts 55'000 inhabitants and is  center for mountain climbing an trecking.


Camile Bournissen is a a moutain guide from Wallis/Switzerland born in 1938 and moutain guide since 1966. The General Assembly in Huaraz awarded him Honorary member of the IFMGA in recognition of this work for the development of mountan guiding in Peru since the beginnings in the 1980s.
